TRAINING WEEK INFORMATION
The Marching 110 is open to any students enrolled at Ohio University. Music Majors make up less then 20% of the 225 member band, and the remaining students represent a broad range of majors from all over campus. The Marching 110 training week begins in the fall, one week prior to the start of fall classes. The week begins with incoming member training on the first two days, followed by the return of upperclassmen to training week the next. On the evening of the third day, music and marching auditions are held. That night, membership information is posted. The Marching 110's directors choose 176 individuals for the pregame block, and 192 for the halftime block, and 40+ additional members.
The Marching 110 consumes many hours a week in rehearsals, performances, and other events that are required of the band during the season. The 110 rehearses every day from 5:15-6:45 PM, as well as weekly Thursday evening rehearsals in the Walter Field House and game-day rehearsals in Peden Stadium.
HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER
The process of becoming a member of the Ohio University Marching 110 begins during your senior year in high school. Sometime during the fall, you should submit your application to Ohio University. Upon receiving your admittance to Ohio University, you will need to complete the online audition process during the spring.
The online audition process for brass and woodwind players includes some scales and etudes, plus an optional excerpt if you'd like to submit one. For percussionists, an audition camp is held in the late spring, and includes several rudiments and examples. All audition information is posted here in the late winter or early spring each year for the following season.
