On Thursday, April 23rd, the Marching 110 held its annual end-of-the-year "jam session" in the Ohio University School of Music.  Held each year as a final meeting for the Marching 110, the jam session includes announcements concerning the upcoming season, the awarding of several Marching 110 scholarships and awards, acknowledgement of the graduating seniors, and the announcement the Field Commander for the upcoming season.

The evening began with detailing the tentative 2015 Marching 110 season.  Training Week for all new and returning members will be held August 15-23, 2015, with the annual Freshmen Convocation Parade and Parade of the Greens being held on August 23.  The Marching 110 will be there to support the OHIO Bobcats at six home football games in 2015.  Highlights of the season include Homecoming (Oct. 10) and Band Day (Oct. 17).

In addition to the six home OHIO games, the Marching 110 participate in the Jackson Apple Festival on Saturday, September 26.  Varsity Show will be held on Saturday, November 21, and the annual Ohio Theatre performance will be Monday, November 23.

The Marching 110 also awarded numerous scholarships and awards to members on Thursday night.  Included in these awards was the Jud and Frank Lawler Award.  Voted on by the Marching 110 Student Staff, this award is dedicated to Marching 110 Alumni Judson and Frank Lawler, who tragically lost their lives shortly before Homecoming weekend in 1999.  In their honor, the Marching 110 awards this award each year to a student in the band who best exemplifies and spirit of Jud and Frank, and their dedication to the Marching 110.  The 2015 Jud and Frank Lawler award recipient was percussionist William Crook.

Finally, the Marching 110 closed the announcement portion of the evening with the reveal of the 2015 Marching 110 Field Commander.  The Field Commander's primary responsibility is the fundamental marching technique of the band.  Other duties include the heightening of moral, discipline, and esprit d' corps of the group.  It is the highest student-held position in the Marching 110, requires the student to be a fourth of fifth year member of the band, and is selected by the directors each season.  The 2015 Marching Field Commander is trombonist Dylan Chase.
